The Kodiak brown bear can be up to 10 feet tall and weigh up to 1,500 pounds. There is one bear for every four people on the island, and one of them is investigating someone's back garden. Alaska PD brings viewers to America's Last Frontier where chronically shorthanded police departments across the state must turn to officers from the Lower 48 to fight a soaring crime rate; newbies learn that, like everything else, policing is different in Alaska. Jaime Ramos from Virginia becomes Kodiak PD's only female police officer, and soon has her first encounter with the infamous Kodiak bear.
