This was the exception to the rule that crime doesn’t pay. Unfortunately for the core gang who committed the crime, most of the money went to middle men, untrustworthy contacts and ended up making the rest of the criminal underworld rich.

The crime was an inside job but prior information didn’t prepare them for the size of the haul. It took them two hours to clear all the contents.

The repercussions for the crime on that day would still be felt two decades later...
