After the death of her daughter, Annie Chapman divorced and took to prostitution to pay for both her drinking and her accommodation.

On this night, lacking a bed, she goes off to her earn her lodgings. Her body is discovered in the early hours. Her throat had been cut and her abdomen slashed open with her intestines placed over her shoulder and her uterus removed.

The autopsy showed she had been sober at the time of her death...
