With the fall of Germany, William Joyce fled to Denmark but he and his wife were intercepted by British soldiers tasked with disarming German troops and segregating out war criminals.

Two officers returned to investigate and Joyce went for something in his pocket, so the officer shot him in the thigh. Joyce is reported as saying that he missed England and was tired of being on the run.

He would later very much regret these feelings...
