The sexual sadist Peter Kurten had been killing since the age of nine and on arrest, he confessed to 79 crimes ranging from child rape to kidnap but he was only tried and sentenced for nine murders.
He was executed by guillotine but unusually, he was said to be looking forward to the experience.
