The grandfather of the black movement’s most famous militant was white. That offered little protection to Malcolm’s father who was undoubtedly murdered for being black.
After his mother went insane, Malcolm was placed into care. He later supported himself through crime and was sentenced to 10 years for burglary. Inside, he found Islam and developed his belief in the common enemy of African Americans, ‘the white man’.
Ironically, he would later be assassinated by black paramilitaries...
