US born William Joyce tried for treason against British Crown

A New Yorker by birth, William Joyce or 'Lord Haw Haw' as he became known, stands trial for his wartime broadcasts from Germany.

The fascist anti-semite had been the propagandist for the Nazis but his fraudulent obtaining of a British passport in 1934 means that despite his US citizenship, and the fact that he became a naturalised German during the war, the British can technically try him.

Unluckily for Joyce, King George VI had just passed the Treason Act. This proved a fatal turn of events for Joyce...
