The huge police manhunt and local vigilante groups were not enough to protect student Jacqueline Hill from being riddled with stab wounds by Peter Sutcliffe.

It did not help that the supposed characteristics of the killer, for example, his accent, spread to the public by the police, were completely wrong.

It would be another two months, and because of Sutcliffe’s addiction to prostitutes, before his fatal five year reign was ended...
