Two years previously The Times newspaper famously wrote that to imprison The Rolling Stone’s Mick Jagger for amphetamine possession was to ‘break a butterfly on a wheel’.

By the time George Harrison was raided, rock stars and their drug arrests were so ubiquitous that no one wrote anything so eloquent.

Unfortunately for George and his wife, the timing of their arrest for marijuana possession meant that he couldn’t attend Paul McCartney’s wedding that day.
