They’d expected to rob a lot of money but not millions. No one wanted the longer prison sentences associated with armed robbery but the train driver never recovered from being beaten.

The combination of the size of the haul, and the injury caused to the driver, meant they ended up receiving the long jail sentences they’d planned so meticulously to avoid.
