A seven-man gang hoping to smash their way into the Millennium Dome’s diamond exhibition and exit with £350 million on a speedboat down the Thames, instead ran into a 100-man police operation.
Surveillance cameras had already picked up various members of the gang viewing and videoing the exhibition and police were just waiting for their entry.
And if the criminals had been successful, and escaped with their prize, they would have had a nasty surprise...
