Michael Stone, already once convicted of the horrific hammer attack on Lin and Megan Russell, now faces a new trial after that verdict was quashed.
A key witness in the first trial was a prisoner serving time for dishonesty and when he later admitted perjury, a retrial was ordered. Michael Stone had only come to police attention when his psychiatrist phoned a TV show that reconstructed the attack and said his patient’s nightmares corresponded.
