The hunt for Peter Sutcliffe was not hampered by a lack of evidence but by too much and too many false leads. He had a signature style of attack using a hammer to subdue and a knife to slash and kill.

His victomology was predictable as he mainly targeted prostitutes, echoing the attacks of Jack the Ripper a century before and earning him his tabloid title.
