UK pop star Gary Glitter convicted of Vietnamese child abuse

Otherwise known as Paul Francis Gadd, his recording of 'Rock and Roll' was listed as one of the Top 1001 songs in music history.

He enjoyed rock and roll excess in the 1970s, a comeback in the 1980s and then became a vegetarian Buddhist.

Then, in the late 1990s, his computer hard drive showed he had become a paedophile. After jail in the UK, he fled abroad.

It was on this day in Vietnam that he was found guilty of molesting two girls aged 10 and 11.
