Perfect Crimes: Brinks Robbery / The Zodiac Killer
Coming Soon

The headlines read "The Biggest Robbery in U.S. History" on 18th January 1950, the day after nine masked men made off with around $2,775,000 from the Boston headquarters of Brinks, Incorporated. It looked for years as if this famous heist was truly the perfect crime. The thieves had staked out the building for months, building a foolproof plan.

By breaking in every night for several months, the group had learned the schedule of the guards, mapped out the building and, most ingeniously, had removed the locks from the doors one by one and had keys made. The gang, armed with guns, got to the counting room before the money had been counted and locked away. They removed the money, loaded it into their trucks and left the guards tied up in the counting room.

The gang got away before the police arrived and managed to provide convincing alibis for themselves. Police were stymied for years but greed got the best of the Brinks gang. Arguments over splitting the money lead to a contracted hit on ‘Specs’ O'Keefe. However, O'Keefe lived and he turned state's evidence against the rest of the gang just five days before the statute of limitations ran out, almost six years after the robbery.

The Zodiac Killer
The Zodiac Killer, so-named because he wore a zodiac symbol while attacking his victim on at least one occasion, was responsible for at least five deaths, and possibly as many as 49 attacks in California in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The Zodiac became infamous not only because of his brutal attacks but also because of his efforts to take credit for his crimes. He made repeated calls to police and the press and sent documented letters to newspapers and detectives. Most of these letters were coded.

The Zodiac Killer has never been identified, although four suspects seem to be the most likely candidates. Is he still walking the streets? Has he changed location and committed more crimes that have yet to be connected to this case?
