Coming Soon
The streets of New York became a battleground for the Mafia in the 1920s and the murderous disputes raged until the 1990s. Infamous Murders reveals how blood was spilt in the war for the top spot in Family feuds, and how the struggle for leadership resulted in an endless cycle of murder.
On 10th September 1931, Salvatore Maranzano arranged to have one of his enemy's killed by a hitman, but the tables were turned when hitmen from the other side turned up first and Maranzano himself became the target. Vito Genovese made a play for the top spot in the Mafia when 'boss of bosses' Frank Costello was put in prison. But when Costello got back into society, it was not long before he put a price on Genovese's head. Genovese figured that attack was the best form of defence, and had enemy Albert Anastasia shot, while he was sitting in the barber's chair. Genovese later died in prison. One of the last Mafia leaders left standing was 'Teflon Don' John Gotti, who miraculously managed to avoid imprisonment when Mayor Giuliani was sending all his colleagues to jail. But his freedom didn't last long. In 1992 he was implicated in the murder of Paul Castellano and sent to prison, where he died of cancer eight years later. SPECIAL FEATURES
