Upbeat, heroic, comic and tragic, Rookies is a story of personal success and failure, documenting the high-pressure world of a Police Boot Camp, from orientation day to graduation. It follows young men and women, from many ethnic backgrounds, as they struggle to realise their dreams of becoming Police Officers. The stakes are high, with winners becoming genuine, certified cops, and losers returning to the streets.

In Rookies, we meet a mother of two trying for the third and last time to pass the course; a former Security Guard trying to make it to the big leagues of law enforcement; and the number one cadet, the class clown who is in fact a gifted academic. Of the 51 original recruits only 39 will take the stage on graduation day.
