The Notorious Mrs Dick
Tuesday 9 Sep 1.00AM

She was the femme fatale, she was the Mata Hari, the person we most loved to hate, or hated to love.

She was a beautiful girl, she was attractive...in most people’s eyes, she was a horrendous murderess.

So begins the notorious tale of Evelyn Dick, high society playgirl and devilishly successful killer or was she?

More than half a century ago her dark eyes danced across the front pages of every Canadian newspaper as she was convicted of the murder and mutilation of her husband, John Dick.

Acquitted on appeal, she ultimately served eleven years for the murder of her infant son whose body was found encased in cement and dumped in a suitcase.

Upon leaving prison, Evelyn acquired a new identity and effectively disappeared.
