On April 28, 2001, the naked body of an unidentified little girl is found in a wooded area in Kansas City, Missouri. Three days later, her head is found nearby.

Sergeant David Bernard is the lead homicide detective in the case. According to Bernard, without the victim's name investigators are at a stalemate.
