Seven years later in August of 2000, Detective Dennis Fitzgerald is now working as a DA Investigator in Ventura County. During his spare time, he tracks some of the unsolved cases. The Cynthia Burger case is one of the three unsolved cases he hopes to solve. Fitzgerald's only evidence in the Burger case is a sample of semen collected from the victim's body. Fitzgerald has a DNA profile developed from the semen and enters it into a national DNA database. The comparison turns up no matches. The case remains stalled until Ventura Police Detective Matt Harrville catches an anonymous call. 1988, West Hollywood California.
