The small town of Belvidere, New Jersey is shocked by the murder of one of its residents. With few leads and seemingly at a dead end, detective Dave Heater enlists the help of psychic Nancy Weber.

When the two visit the scene of the crime, the psychic is flooded with visions and tells the detective that this is not the first murder that this man has committed.
