Two good friends took a hike one August in New Mexico’s Rattlesnake Canyon. One of them would never leave the desert alive and the other would be charged with his murder.
Kodikian pleaded no contest to second-degree murder, saying his best friend was in terrible pain, suffering from dehydration and hunger from the desert heat. Coughlin feared he would die a slow painful death and begged Kodikian to end his suffering. The two men were found 275 feet from the nearest trail and one and a half miles from their car. There was an unopened can of baked beans at the campsite where Kodikian was found. SPECIAL FEATURES
