15 February 1974: Donald Neilson the Black Panther kills first victim

Neilson had served in the army, failed as a builder and then as a burglar, and so had tried armed robbery, which is what he was doing when on this date, he became a murderer. As burglary had not provided the income he expected, he started robbing post offices, dressed in a black balaclava, which is how he earnt his moniker.
