14 March : Former heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson found guilty of rape

Mike Tyson was back on form when he met Desiree Washington, a Miss Black America contestant. They went off to his hotel room early in the morning. Four days later she accused him of rape. It took the jury nine hours to believe her and Tyson was sent to jail protesting his innocence. On his release he bitterly reproached her for her alleged false allegation adding, “Now I really do want to rape her and her f**king mama”.
