20 August - 51 people lose their lives as The Marchioness sinks on the Thames

When the party boat Marchioness was sunk on 20 August 1989, 51 people lost their lives in what was one of the worst disasters the Thames has ever seen. Following the disaster, families were told they could not see their loved ones and questionable practices were carried out on the deceased causing an inquiry to take place several years later.
