10 October - Police find first body on Moors, victim of Myra Hindley and lover

Nietzsche Nazi Ian Brady had persuaded Myra Hindley that rape and murder were the 'supreme pleasure'. Lesley Ann Downey was the first body found on the Moors and it made the police realise that his sick philosophy had claimed more than just the one victim found in his home. It had taken three days to find her body. It would take another eleven before the third was found. The body of Keith Bennett has, at time of writing, never been found.
