The ‘Poet of Death’ had a writer’s sense of a character’s conclusion when he used the same knot with which he had dispatched so many of victims, to kill himself.

The illegitimate son of a prostitute, he killed two women before being jailed. Inside, his writings made him fashionably famous and on his release he toured Prague, Los Angeles and Austria, killing a further nine prostitutes in these places.
