Right From Wrong: Dealing With Suspects

But what about you?

Why don’t YOU – and I - do something much more proactive in the fight against crime and other social disorder?

Talk to your children or your children’s children. Find out what they are doing and intervene if what they are doing is wrong or rude or ant-social or illegal. Teach them how to be better citizens. Teach then to know and understand the word ‘NO’ and that wrongdoing leads to punishment that fits the crime.

Catch them doing right, as well as wrong. Praise as well as punish, in equal measure. If we are truly going to address and readjust the uneven and fashionable view that crime and all human excess is fun and sexy and ‘acceptable’, then we must all take hold of it forcefully and do something before it’s too late and we follow other nations into a ‘spiral of decline’.

In law enforcement terms, we are supposed to be ten years behind the Americans, developmentally, and they have for so long now been telling us get hold of the drugs importation problem before it gets out of hand. So we must quickly and resolutely deal with anyone who steals away the human rights of others, right now – or it will be too late.

If you break the law in the United States in 2008, you will end up in an extremely harsh prison regime; breaking large rocks by day and living in fear every night. They have gone full circle back to the fact that to deter criminals you have to make the punishment hurt.

The idea is to ensure that all people – young and old(er) – come to quickly understand that the persuasive media message of ‘must have now’ and ‘being owed a lifestyle’ is facile and fictitious.

If all right-thinking people, from every walk of life, take up the banner of Human Responsibility first, after which then come Human Rights – then, just maybe, we can start to turn things around.

Your views? Fortunately you are still allowed to have them - whatever they may be! Let’s keep it that way.
