I was a Detective for nearly quarter of a century so in all that time my colleagues and I cracked quite a few cases!

That involved actually catching people committing crimes, interviewing them in police or prison custody and also by talking to informants.

However, statistically, a police officer will only actually catch a burglar in the act TWICE in thirty years of service!

So crime prevention is much more effective than crime detection! Make sure you lock your doors and windows when you are away from the house and always be observant about strangers hanging about.

Never keep house keys and vehicle keys on the same bunch and practice remembering car number plates and other important details!
